MprinT project (2021 – 2025)

  • Investigate the shift from manuscriptto print culture in Islamic textual traditions along the Swahili coast ofEast Africa during the 19th and 20th centuries
  • Collect and document data on themanuscript-to-print transition in the region
  • Compare manuscript and printed textsto assess if print promoted a more 'global' Islam
